Influence of catalyst dynamics on fixed bed methanation reactor design and operation
The poster contribution uses the example of CO2 methanation to show how the dynamics of the catalyst affect the highly dynamic operation of technical reactors. For this purpose, a semi-empirical kinetic approach based on the concept of "rate affecting steps" is used. This approach makes it possible to explicitly describe the storage effect of the catalyst via sorption and surface reactions and thus enables the representation of dynamic effects.
