Optimal operation policies for load changes of fixed bed methanation reactors
In the lecture, Moritz Langer presents a method for creating optimal operating strategies for the load change of methanation reactors in order to avoid that the product does not meet the target requirements. For this purpose, an optimization problem for the reactor is formulated in which the dosing trajectories of the reactants are optimized at desired load changes with regard to a high overall yield. For the correct description of the dynamic reactor behavior, a kinetic model is used in combination with a heterogeneous reactor model that explicitly considers the storage capacity and the dynamics of the catalyst.
