Strategy workshop of the REC Institute

From June 9 to 10, 2022, the REC Institute held a two-day strategy workshop at the Ferienhotel Stockhausen in Schmallenberg. As an introduction, Prof. Freund presented the current research topics of the institute and current and recently completed projects in an overview lecture. Afterwards, all research assistants gave presentations on the current status of their work and gave an outlook on the next steps in their respective research projects. On the second day, the focus was on medium to long-term future prospects in research and teaching. To this end, Prof. Freund gave a keynote speech at the beginning of each day, providing an outlook on further developments in the research areas and specifically addressing current trends and developments in the chemical industry. On this basis, there were then intensive discussions with all participants in small groups about concrete development opportunities for the institute in research and teaching, possible approaches were developed and potential for future projects and doctoral projects as well as in-depth lectures were identified.

In addition to the many lectures and technical discussions, there was of course also time to relax. During an evening walk through the Sauerland with a beautiful sunset, work faded into the background and we had time to get to know our colleagues better. Afterwards, we rounded off the evening of the first day with a cozy get-together. We started the second day of the workshop with a morning swim in the pool, so that we were refreshed for the discussions on future prospects.
