Research projects
The spectrum of funded projects ranges from long-term, basic research work (primarily funded by the DFG) to short to medium-term, application-driven industrial projects. The work is carried out both in larger research networks (e.g. Cluster of Excellence "Ruhr Explores Solvation" (RESOLV), DFG Priority Program 2080 "Catalysts and reactors under dynamic operating conditions for energy storage and conversion", EU project "Integrated and intelligent upgrade of carbon sources through hydrogen addition for the steel industry - i3upgrade") and in a bilateral framework in cooperation with national and international partners from academia and/or industry.
In these projects, for example, we are working on:
- The methanation of CO2 from industrial waste gases for energy storage
- The design of load-flexible reactor concepts in the context of Power-to-X applications
- The development of new catalyst carriers for improved heat dissipation
- The optimization of large-scale processes to minimize CO2 emissions
- The intensification of processes for the production of plastic additives
